The art of Eduardo Valls consists of transgressing sculptural materials by using them as a target, of using photos and videos to record the action, and ending by firing the pieces in a kiln. On the basis that breaking, tearing, treading, hitting, burning and shooting are merely other means of creation. This process ends in a kiln, where that very energy is controlled to rearrange the atomic structure of certain elements that become harder and more resistant. The artist thus seeks to explore the physical limits of the materials, by submitting them to an explicit violence and analysing the results recorded in the documenting of the process.

Edu Valls graduated in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid, completed a residence in Bologna (Italy), and has a Master’s Degree in Ceramics: Art and Function at the UPV/EHU. His work has been exhibited at venues including the Vizcaya General Assembly House, Sanz Enea Zarauz and the Spanish Parliament in Madrid. His art explores the physical limits of the materials by submitting them to explicit violence and analysing the results after recording the process.
