This work is part of Un lugar en el mundo [A Place in the World], a multidisciplinary project where the artistic exploration coexists with a social perspective, at the same time it draws on technological innovation in order to rethink urban spaces and transform them through artefacts that enable liveability. The contract displayed in the showcase, which constitutes the artwork, is the result of negotiations with the other grant-recipient artists, aiming to reach an agreement for a hypothetical intervention in the Uribitarte40 exhibition space. After several discussions and with the intention of interfering as little as possible with the work of the other artists, the conclusion is reached that the action that most convinces the artist is the act of ceding the space that would hypothetically have been hers to occupy as an artist in the collective exhibition.
Marta Lorenzana (Oviedo, 1987) is a graduate in Art from the Faculty of Fine Arts at UPV/EHU. In 2023, she is selected for the Ertibil40 artistic processes workshop, later participating in the collective exhibition that concludes the project (Ertibil Hall, 2023). In 2021, she receives an artistic production grant from the BilbaoArte Foundation to develop the project If I Could Wish, which is exhibited at the Fábrica de Armas Space in Oviedo and the Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias during the Oviedo Professional Art Week (2022). Other recent works are exhibited at the Cycladic Arts space in Paros, Greece (2023), Bizkaia Aretoa (2022), the Decero Espacio Creativo gallery (Every Single Mourning, 2021), the Carlton Hotel in Bilbao (2019), and the Cervantes 6 gallery (2017). She balances her artistic production with supporting the production of other artists such as Irati Inoriza, Estela de Miguel, Katherinne Fiedler, Sara Cattin, Juan Diego Tobalina, Kafuné Kolektiboa, among others, as well as collaborating on audiovisual projects within the art department: she participates in the recording of the music video for Hiru Damatxo, Merina Gris (2024), and in the album cover and music video recording for Nara, Sara Zozaya (2023). As a complement to her training in visual arts, she trains in contemporary dance with dancers and choreographers such as Olatz de Andrés, Koldo Larrazabal, Dennis Rodríguez, Laida Aldaz, Natalia Fernández, among others. She also participates in performances such as The Big Game at Lekuona Fabrika, directed by Olatz de Andrés (2021), and Txirikorda, a performance directed by Héctor Zamora, included in Prototipoak Bilbao 2025, International Biennial of New Artistic Forms.
